Presidents Message
Welcome to the San Bernardino County Fire Training Officers' Association website. As an affiliate of the San Bernardino County Fire Chiefs' Association, the Training Officers are professionals dedicated to providing excellent training opportunities for fire personnel throughout the entire county. In addition, we meet regularly to discuss current issues affecting our organizations and the fire service, in general.
Succession planning is the key to survivability in any organization and the fire service is no exception. As Fire Training Officers, we have accepted the responsibility to ensure the continued development of our personnel from probationary Firefighters to apparatus operators, first-line supervisors, and eventually to Chief Officer positions.
As events in the world change the way the Fire Service responds to emergency calls, it is imperative that all agencies stay current with changing trends. The SBCTOA remains ever vigilant in ensuring the training needs of local fire service agencies are being met.
If you are not already a member of this organization, I invite you to consider joining. We meet as a group on the second Thursday of each month at various pre-designated locations. The group generally begins each meeting with a brief training session, arranged by the host agency. Following the training session are reports from the various committees on topics pertinent to the issues impacting all fire agencies in the county.
